Audience definition
Creating content for the Internet requires research. Depending on who you are trying to target, it may mean doing lots of research. If you do not know your audience, then even the best writers, with clear and well penned articles, will lack readership.

Targeted content is very important if you are trying to gain traffic to your website, and in turn, drive visitors to purchase a product. With millions upon millions of pages being created each day for the same purpose, you need to stand out from this enormous crowd.

Creating awareness of your brand is the first step in winning over a dedicated group of followers. Give your readers something that they can use in the form of information, entertainment, or incentives, and they may likely return for more.

There are a quite few ways to attract an audience to your website, blog, or online store. In many cases, content should be posted on Facebook, Pinterest, and other social media platforms. Those sites are the new frontier of marketing. It's much easier to redirect traffic from social sites to an intended destination once you have a following.

Begin by setting a schedule to create content, no matter what it is and where it’s going. Consistency demonstrates dedication and reliability. Your readers will be able to count on you to provide them with usable content and they will return.

Here are a few ideas for content to get you started:
  • Write how-to articles
  • Write an eBook
  • Offer giveaways
  • Have a contest with prizes
  • Create infographics
  • Post quizzes
  • Upload photos and videos
  • Offer a list of industry resources
